One day - Policy Consultation Workshop for Solar Water Heater Deployment

Government officials play a vital role in the success of policy planning and implementation. Especially, in the cases of sustainability related policies, where technical know-how is required along with administrative and strategy skills, decision makers and officials with passion for sustainability are critical to the process.

For the executive level, the targeted audience will include ministry officials and high-level bureaucrats who will implement the scheme. Considering the target group, the focus will primarily be on the national level policy making with sensitization for sustainable energy with focus on SWH systems. Training will enable field-level decision making and monitoring program/scheme implementation. Details of trainings are as follows:

1. Key Takeaways

  • Introduction to solar geometry as well as resource assessment methodology for evaluating the potential for a given site.
  • Identify various types of tools used in the SH industry and explain how to use them safely.
  • Obtain specifications for various solar collectors and determine collector performance for given various environmental and operating conditions.
  • Identify appropriate codes and standards concerning the installation, operation, and maintenance of SWH systems.
  • Current policies and schemes in detail pertaining to SWH systems and a brief Overview of Global Commitments (e.g. Paris Agreement)
  • Introduction to the concepts of: Life Cycle Costs, Energy Costing (Levelized Cost of Energy)
  • General overview on the Environmental benefits linked to SWH systems
  • Introduction to Financial evaluation of a SWH system in term of Policy design for the technology deployment.
